What Does It Mean That Jesus Is Lord - Sunday Sermon Recap

On Sunday, Pastor Abraham preached on “What Does It Mean That Jesus Is Lord?”. It was a powerful message that challenged us to truly understand what it means to declare Jesus Christ as Lord in our lives. He began with the foundational scriptures (Luke 2:11; 1 Peter 3:15; Colossians 2:6-7; Romans 10:5-10), reminding us that this declaration is more than just words—it’s a commitment to believe in who Jesus Christ truly is.

So, what does it mean that Jesus is Lord?. Pastor Abraham broke it down into several key truths:

  • It is a declaration of His deity.  When we say Jesus is Lord, we acknowledge that He is God (John 20:26–28).
  • To believe He is God is to believe He created all things (John 1:1–5).  He was there in the beginning, and all things were made through Him.
  • To believe He is God is to believe He upholds all things (Hebrews 1:1-3). He is actively sustaining everything by His power.
  • To believe He is God is to believe He possesses the attributes meant only for God—omnipresence, omniscience, and omnipotence (Matthew 28:18-20).
  • To believe He is God is to believe He received worship that was exclusively for God (Revelation 5:13-14; Mark 5:1-6). Unlike angels or prophets, Jesus accepted worship because He is divine.
  • To believe He is God is to believe in His sovereignty (Colossians 1:15-17, NLT). He rules over all things, seen and unseen.
  • To believe He is God is to believe He is Lord of all (Acts 10:34–36).  He has authority over every nation, every person, and every situation.

Pastor Abraham emphasized that truly believing Jesus is Lord means surrendering to Him—not just with our words but with our hearts and lives.  It’s about living in a way that reflects His lordship over us.

This message was a deep and necessary reminder of who Jesus Christ is and why we must fully trust and follow Him.

This was also a message that truly deepened our understanding of Jesus’ divine authority and why we must submit to Him completely.
